Supers Lose Opener 1-0 to Royals
Posted July 26, 2012
The Supers and Royals finally got to play a ball game after two consecutive nights of rain. At the pace of the game on Thursday night, the teams likely could have played a double header as starting pitchers Travis Fogg and Tanner Nesbitt made short work of their opposition. Unfortunately for the Supers, the Royals were able to push across a run in the bottom of the 5th and hold on for a 1-0 victory, and lead the best of 3 SESBL semi final series 1-0.
Starting pitcher Travis Fogg pitched a gem, allowing just three hits, one walk, and an unearned run. Although he only had one strikeout, he was able to keep the Royals off balance for the majority of the evening. The offence just could not get things going, and put up a donut on the scoreboard.
The bats were held silent on this night, as the Supers could only manage five hits. Zach Rakochy and Travis Fogg each hit a double. Greg Andreychuk, Ryan Kitchen, and Darcy Blommaert each had a single. Those were the only Supers to reach base, as Nesbitt did not record a walk.
Game two of the series will be played Monday, July 30 at Al Sapieha Field in Canora. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 PM.
