In the series final the Dbacks turned to SS on the bump as all of the FMBA was cheering for him yet again. League president emailed the team and asked management if he would pitch to appease the rest of the league; as he was hoping to avoid a Richard Riot type incident.
Inspired by his #1 fan(Nelly) SS went out and threw....exactly as he always does. Lots of walk, lots of base runners, a few hits, then decides enough is enough, gets clutch and does not allow runs against. The defense was sharp behind him although he made a play that put him in the running for a Skervy for worst defensive play. In by far the lowest scoring series of the playoffs, neither team could string together any kind of offense. SS refused to have a clean inning as the crowd just kept clamoring for more. So he kept putting them on and then shutting them down.
Late in the game the Dbacks were finally able to string multiple hits together and put two on the board against the stingy Cocks defense. It all came down to bottom of 7 runners with runners on 1st and 2nd In a 2-1 game. SS, worrying about Big Tom's mental stability at this point, struck out the final batter looking on a knuckle ball at the knees.
