Lady Wildcats add Two More Wins

The Lady Wildcats had a very successful week as both A-team and B-team added two wins to their record. On Tuesday, September 11, Waverly hosted the East Hickman Lady Eagles. The scores for the match were 25-12 and 25-23. B-team scores were 16-25, 25-21 and 15-11.
On Friday, September 14, the Lady Wildcats traveled to Centerville to face the Lady Bulldogs. Hickman County had a 19-15 lead late in the first set, but the Lady Wildcats fought back and won the set 26-24. Waverly fell behind early in the second set 3-0. But, with Emma Rushton serving, the Lady Wildcats came up with an 8-point run to put them out front 8-3. The Lady Bulldogs got within two points of Waverly’s score, 16-18. The Lady Wildcats did not let the Lady Bulldogs any closer as they went on to win the second set 25-17 with Emily Davis at the serving line for Waverly getting the last 3 points on ace serves. This gave the match win to the Lady Wildcats. Waverly is currently 7-2 in conference play and 13-6 overall.
Serving leaders for Waverly were Emma Rushton 18 for 18 with 5 aces, Emily Davis 8 for 8 wiith 4 aces, Winnie Bradley 6 for 6 with 1 ace, Jaice Vann 4 for 4 with 1 ace, and Lofton Etheridge 9 for 10 with 5 aces. Passing leaders were Emma Rushton 78 for 80 with 3 digs, Emily Davis 42 for 44 with 2 kills, Lofton Etheridge 33 for 37 with 5 kills and 1 dig, Candace Clay 22 for 24 with 2 kills and 2 digs, Winnie Bradley 40 for 45 with 2 kills and 4 digs and Jaice Vann 8 for 9 with 1 dig. Paige Culp added a block for the Lady Wildcats.
Waverly’s B-team was also successful against the Lady Bulldogs. Scores for this match were 27-29, 25-11 and 15-11. Serving leaders were Jordan Barnett 20 for 23 with 9 aces, Brityn Sain 3 for 3, Alyssa Miguez 2 for 2, Makayla McGranahan 6 for 7 with 1 ace, Allison Evrard 5 for 6, Kaley Grisham 6 for 8 with 3 aces and Bailey Kilburn 8 for 11 with 3 aces. Emma Thomas had 2 aces from the serving line for Waverly. Passing leaders were Jordan Barnett 35 for 38 with 2 kills and 4 digs, Bailey Kilburn 47 for 52 with 3 kills and 4 digs, Alyssa Miguez 10 for 12 with 1 kill, Emma Thomas 13 for 15, and Gabby Terlecki 7 for 9 with 2 kills. Kaley Grisham had 3 digs for the Lady Wildcats and Brityn Sain had 1 dig. Elizabeth Allison added 2 kills for Waverly. The current record for the B-team is 6-3.
