On
Monday, February 4, 2013, the St. Louis Surge Women’s Basketball Team owner,
Khalia Collier, launched a redesigned logo on the team’s website,www.stlsurgebasketball.com, and social media
sites including Facebook and Twitter.
The new
logo features a striking new lightning bolt behind the teams’ name. With
similar brand colors of green, navy blue and gray, the new logo was redesigned
with two versions to be used interchangeably. One version of the new logo
highlights the Surge name in green and the other navy blue, which now features
a new twinkle and shine on the letter “G” to accent the movement of contrasting
letter styles. Both logos are accentuated with an orange basketball with a
green, white and black outline.
Collier
says the new logo is a better reflection of the Surge brand and sets it apart
from other semi-professional teams.
“The
pairing of a new lightning bolt and basketball shows the intensity and
electricity we are trying to bring to the St. Louis community,” said Collier.
“We wanted to bring our brand to life with power and confidence and really show
the community that we are truly surging through the community.”
The
previous logo was created in 2011, and helped bring the Surge to the forefront
of women’s basketball when the team developed a new brand and ownership. Since
then, the Surge has maintained a consistent fan base, attracting more than
2,500 fans during the 2011 season.
