Girls Win 1st at the Brock-Kobza River Ridge Tournament on Feb. 15-16, 2013

The CRHS Girls won first place with a score of 331-323 (654) at River Ridge! They were just coming off of last week's second place finish at Sienna and showed great determination on very fast greens in the wind. They led the tournament from day # 1. Seven Lakes Girls won second with a 337-325 (662) and Katy Taylor won third place with a 348-336 (684).
CRHS Junior Kennedy Ishee won first place individual with a 79-73. Kennedy shot 71-79 last week to medal too. KTHS Senior Danielle Poe won second place with a 80-73. CRHS Sophomore Maddie Luitwieler finished in third place with a 77-81. Last week Maddie won with a 72-67. The Cinco top two golfers are both having a great spring season averaging in the 70's and winning top medals in all of their tournaments.
Cinco's Sophomore Alexis Kollmansberger won 10th place with a 85-84 and CR Sophomore Sarah Yi finished in 16th place with a 90-85. Other Cinco Ranch scores include Freshman Madison Goldblum (104-93), Sophomore Sara Kelley (94-104), and Sophomore Samantha Swanson (100-102). The girls fielded a roster of 1 junior, 5 sophomores, and 1 freshman to take home the gold. Way to go Cougars!!!
The Cougar Boys won 3rd place and played without their number one player Junior Michael Cotton who went on a recruiting visit and played in an AJGA tournament in Dallas where he placed 6th. The Cougars shot 302 and were one shot out of first on day # 1 with Michael shooting a 72. The Cougars showed great guts and determination as they played with only 4 players on day # 2 and still won third place! They did a great job of "Grinding It Out" and beating many great quality 5A teams. Way to go J.D. Kiesewetter, Matt McClung, Kyle Rogers and Tom McLaughlin!!!!!!!!
Deer Park won with a 301-302 (603), Strake Jesuit got second with a 306-311 (617), the Cougars got third with a 302-319 (621) and Seven Lakes got fourth with a 311-315 (626).
Individually Sophomore Kyle Rogers (77-77) and Junior J.D. Kiesewetter (76-78) both tied for 12th with solid scores. Senior Matt McClung finished one stroke back in 14th place with a 77-78. Good scores on the second team included Michael Chittwood (86-79), Kyle Engel (78-85), Dane Fredrickson (84-79), Alec Keiser (81-87), and Conor Watkins (89-85).
The Cougar Boys are traveling to play in the State Preview in Austin on February 22-23.
