Cougar Boys Win "Region Preview" at Eagle Pointe on March 29-30, 2013

The CRHS boys varsity teams wins the Deer Park Region Preview at Eagle Pointe! The boys team shot 305-295=600 to win by 11 strokes over the host school Deer Park. The Cougars had a 3 shot lead on day 1 over Cy-Fair, and a 5 shot lead over Seven Lakes and Deer Park. The Cougars kept the lead and expanded on it on day 2. The Cougars got to drop a 77 on day 2 for a great team performance. Behind the Cougar's first place 600, was Deer Park in second at 611, and Seven Lakes in third at 617. The field consisted of 20 teams.
Junior Michael Cotton led the way with a 75-75 (150). Junior J.D. Kiesewetter shot one more stroke at 76-75 (151), Senior Matt McClung 81-71 and Sophomore Kyle Rogers 78-74 were one more back at 152. One more back was Junior Tom McLaughlin at 76-77 (153). All five Cougars shot within 3 strokes of one another for the win.
The Cougars defend their Disrict Championship on Tuesday/Wednesday, April 9-10. The Cougars are shooting for their 7th District Championship in a row. It is a very competitive field this year in one of the best districts in the Region this year. Good luck Cougars! "Grind It Out"!!!!! The Region III-5A Tournament at Eagle Pointe is on April 15-16th for the girls, and on April 17-18th for the boys.
