Supers Blank Royals to Improve to 4-0

On Friday May 31, the Supers travelled to Willowbrook to take on the Royals. The wind was blowing in from the outfield, so runs were going to be hard to come by. Fortunately, the Supers were able to push across six runs on eight hits while Derek Palagian tossed a complete game shutout in a 6-0 victory.

Palagian started on the mound, scattering seven hits over seven innings with seven strikeouts. His control was very good as he did not surrender a walk. The Royals loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the fourth, but were unable to capitalize. Other than that, Palagian kept the Royals offence in check the entire evening to imprrove his record to two wins and no losses on the season.

Offensively, the Supers scored four runs in the top of the third inning to give them some breathing room, and scored one run in the top of the fourth and seventh. Colby Parachoniak, Dylan Toffan, and Jason Blommaert led the way with two hits and an rbi apiece. Blommaert and Toffan each had a single, double, and a run scored as well. Travis Fogg had a single, walk and a run scored. Evan Rostotski had a solid night at the plate with a single, two walks, and two runs scored. Greg Andreychuk and Scott Sharp each had an rbi groundout to contribute to the cause.

With the win, the Supers improve to 4-0 on the season. The next game is Sunday, June 2 as the Supers make their first trip to Russell, Manitoba to take on the Bulls. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM Saskatchewan time.
