Supers Top Royals to Remain Undefeated
Posted June 7, 2013
On Friday June 7, the Willowbrook Royals made a visit to Al Sapieha Field looking to spoil the Supers perfect record. Royals starting pitcher Greg Pelechaty limited the Supers to three runs on nine hits, but Supers starter Travis Fogg was able to hold the Royals to two runs on just four hits as the Supers prevailed 3-2.
After scoring one in the first and two in the second, the Supers offence looked to be firing on all cylinders. However from that point on, they could not generate much, but held on as the Royals rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh to make it interesting.
Fogg was in mid season form on the hill, allowing just four hits, two runs (one earned), three strikeouts and zero walks as his control was stellar. Fogg improves his personal pitching record to 2-0 on the season, with a sparkling 0.58 earned run average.
On the sticks, Jason Blommaert, Logan Parachoniak and Zach Rakochy each had two hits. Blommaert started things off in the top of the first with an rbi single, and had another single in the fifth inning. Logan had an rbi double in the bottom of the second, a single, and a run scored. Rakochy had two singles and an rbi groundout. Also chipping in was Colby Parachoniak with a double, Evan Rostotski with a single, and Tannum Wyonzek with his first hit as a Super with a beautiful bunt single which led to the eventual winning run. Derek Palagian and Trevor Latham each had a walk and a run scored.
The Supers record is now 6-0 on the season, as they remain tied for first with the Yorkton Yankees. Next game action for the Supers will be on Sunday, June 9 as they make the trip to Swan River to take on the Reds. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 Saskatchewan time with Jason Blommaert as the scheduled starting pitcher.
