Supers Defeat Padres

Posted June 22, 2013

On Friday night, the Supers travelled to Yorkton to take on the Parkland Padres. After five innings the Supers held a 4-0 lead, but would blow the game open with three in the sixth and four in the seventh to cruise to an 11-0 victory.

Once again, the pitching was in top form as Derek Palagian tossed six shutout innings to claim his fourth win of the season, He gave up just one hit, one walk and struck out seven. Randy Brenzen pitched the bottom of the seventh, allowing only one hit and a walk to keep the Padres off the scoreboard.

After a slow start, the bats came alive late as the Supers managed thirteen hits total, with contributions from everyone in the lineup. Players with two or more hits were Greg Andreychuk, Jason Blommaert, Brogan Legebokoff, and Scott Sharp. Carson Dennis, Colby Parachoniak and Derek Palagian each had a single, while Trevor Latham had a double. Sharp and Latham each scored three runs, while Blommaert and Sharp each had two rbi's.

The Supers record improves to eleven wins and one loss on the season. The next scheduled game will be Wednesday, June 26 as the Yorkton Yankees are in town for a 6:15 start with first place on the line.
