It was just one of those games where you have to tip your hat to the opposing pitcher as the St. Peter town team dropped its second round matchup at the High Life Invite 5-0 to Savage on Saturday night in Arlington.
The Saints struck out 13 times and were limited to only three hits by Outlaws pitcher Justin Wallace during the seven-inning tilt.
Savage scored what proved to be the winning run in the first after a leadoff double reached home following a sacrifice bunt and a single. The Outlaws added three more in the second with a leadoff home run ensued by three singles.
St. Peter posed its biggest threat in the fourth inning after Jordan Wilmes started the frame with a double and Jeff Menk walked with two outs, but the Savage center fielder robbed Mike Enz of an RBI hit with a diving catch to end the inning.
The Outlaws added one more run in the fifth on a double and single, ending Jesse Anderson's night on the hill. Anderson took the loss after five innings of work with eight hits, five runs, two Ks and a walk. Jordan Seebach tossed a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
The meager three hits by the Saints came from Wilmes (1-3, 2B), Menk (1-3) and CJ Siewert (1-3).
On Tuesday, June 25, the Saints (4-8, 2-3 RVL) return to Veterans Field and league play against Jordan at 7:30 p.m.
