“After the Fire” Charity Basketball Game to be held June 26"
Teams representing the Winston-Salem police and fire departments and Winston-Salem Lady Warcats, a semi-professional women’s basketball team, will participate in the “After the Fire” charity basketball games Wednesday, June 26, at Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy gymnasium, 1215 N. Cameron Ave, to benefit citizens who have been displaced by a fire.
Donations of essential items such as toiletries and non-perishable food will be collected for admission at the games. The police and fire teams will play at 4 p.m. with the winner taking on the Winston-Salem Lady Warcats at 5 p.m. Between the games and during halftime there will be such activities as a Free-Throw/Lay-Up Relay to benefit the Burned Children’s Fund, Hot Wing Eating Contest, Sparky’s Free Throw Contest, Musical Basketball Chairs and a Team Bond AAU Half-Court Shot Contest.
Donations are also being accepted at all city fire stations.
The games are hosted by BDaht of 102 Jamz and the Freestyle Comedy Show, and are sponsored by the Winston-Salem Fire and Police departments, Wing Zone, Omega Sports, Walmart, Buffalo Wild Wings, Tropical Café Smoothies, Firehouse Subs, Team B.O.N.D. and the D.A.H.T. Foundation.
