Dbacks Scrape by Cards 2-1

Posted June 28, 2013

Well folks, this was a ballgame.  Nelly vs. Gayef.  Hitters beware.

The first three innings were clocked at approximately 5 minutes, 27 seconds.  Both pitchers recorded several strikeouts.  Fielders were rarely tested.  Justin Sheppard got the Dbacks off to a start in the 3rd with a clutch 2-out single to score a run.

After finally realizing his playing career is over, Steve Fodchuk transformed into a solid 3rd base coach.  He coordinated with Kenton Haugrud to lay down the team's first sacrifice bunt of the year.  Several Dbacks players were quoted as asking "What just happened?"  Player-coach Reggie Dunlop responded "That, fellas, was a smart baseball play."

For whatever reason the Cards started their IMDB look-alike in left.  This payed off when Flow booted a ball as he used his speed to score from 2nd.  But all was right again in the baseball world when the joystick the Cardinal's bench was using to control him malfunctioned on a routine fly ball which put the Dbacks on top again.

With two on and nobody out, down by 1 in the 7th facing closer AJ Fystro, the Cards' IMDB-lookalike opted to swing the bat instead of the logical sacrifice bunt.  The baseball gods looked down on this act of blasphemy and smited the Cardinals, with the next batter hitting into a game-ending 6-3 double-play.

Afterwards, the two most-hated FMBA teams rejoiced in their mutual dislike of everyone else in the league by crushing 129 beers and sharing their best heckling stories.

MVP - Sheppard         IMDB - Flow, for telling everyone to "keep the ball in front, no matter what", then proceeding to boot the ball into right field to let the tying run score
IMDB honorable mention - Kraus, for throwing 27 consecutive balls during BP
