Stinker in Melville
Posted June 28, 2013
On Friday June 28, the Supers travelled to Melville to take on the Bison. Playing conditions were sub par as the batters box and pitching mound was muddy/slippery. However, the Supers defence had a night to forget as six errors led to a long and frustrating evening as they fell 12-6.
Travis Fogg went the distance for the Supers, pitching six innings allowing twelve hits and six strikeouts. Although he did not have his best stuff on the evening, half of the twelve runs he surrendered were unearned, as several uncharacteristic errors costed the team. Fogg's pitching record falls to 2-1 on the season.
The offence collected six runs on seven hits. Derek Palagian and Evan Rostotski each recorded a pair of singles. Palagian also had a walk and a run. Rostotski had two rbi to continue his good season at the dish, while Dylan Toffan had a double, a stolen base, and two runs scored. Scott Sharp had a single, stolen base, and a run scored. Randy Brenzen had a single as well to help the cause.
With the loss, the Supers record falls to 11-2 on the season. Their regular season finale will be next Thursday, July 4 as they host the Yorkton Yankees in a battle of the top two teams in the standings. SESBL playoffs will begin the second week of July for the bottom five teams in the standings, with the Supers and Yankees getting first round byes.
