Supers Shutout by Yankees
Posted July 6, 2013
It was a beautiful day for baseball on Thursday, July 4 as the Supers hosted the Yorkton Yankees in a battle of the top two teams in the SESBL standings. After five innings the Yankees held a 4-0 lead, but blew the game wide open with three in the sixth and six in the seventh to win 13-0, clinching first place.
Supers starting pitcher Colby Parachoniak tossed three innings, allowing four runs with three strikeouts to take the loss. Jason Blommaert pitched the final four innings, keeping the Yankees off the board for two innings before the floodgates opened.
The offence could do very little off of Dan Morari, who dominated from start to finish allowing just five hits with eleven strikeouts. Tannum Wyonzek had two hits in two at bats to lead the way, and Zach Rakochy also had a two hit day to finish off another excellent season. Travis Fogg was the only other Super to reach base with a single.
With the loss, the Supers finish with a record of 11 wins and 3 losses for second place in the standings, and wait for the first round of playoffs to be completed to find out their playoff opponents.
