The Royals took on the Guns this past weekend in Marysburg. In front of a very large homecoming crowd the boys managed to pull off a 13-2 victory in game one. Colin Bauml threw a complete game and the defense was solid making only one error behind him. The bats were big as the Royals had ten hits lead by a Brent Puetz homerun.
The second game saw a good pitching duel between Matt Kosteniuk of the Guns and Dean Jaeb of the Royals. The Guns got to Dean for three runs in the fifth and sixth innings, however, Mathew Strueby came in a shut the Guns down to keep the game in check. The Royals scored one in the bottom of the sixth to make it 3-1 and then loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh when Brent Puetz came up with one out. Brent then hit a walk off grand slam to seal the victory for the Royals. Mathew Strueby got the win and the defense was flawless. The boys only had six hits but managed to get the win. Next action for the Royals is this Thursday at 9pm against the Blue Jays in Saskatoon.
