Supers Win Thriller to Tie Series With Indians
Posted July 24, 2013
On Wednesday July 24, the Supers and Langenburg Indians put on a great show for the large crowd in Langenburg. It was a nail biter right until the end, but the game ended in eight innings with a 3-2 Supers victory.
Former Langenburg resident Travis Fogg started on the mound for the Supers, putting his rough outing from Monday in the past. He went the distance, giving up just four hits, two earned runs, four strikeouts and one walk to pick up the much needed win. Dane Kobylko pitched six solid innings for the Indians, while Tyrel Thorpe finished up taking the loss.
With the bats, Jason Blommaert had a tremendous day going 3 for 4 with a double and two rbi's. Zach Rakochy was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Dylan Toffan had a single, a stolen base and a run. Evan Rostotski had a single and a run, while Greg Andreychuk had a single, a stolen base and an rbi. The four Langenburg hits were by Tyler Hartung, Nick Carlson, Tyrel Thorpe and Dane Kobylko
The Supers defence was very good on this night as they did not commit an error. The key play of the game was in the bottom of the seventh. Langenburg had runners on 1st and 2nd with one out with a 2-2 score. A ground ball was hit to third baseman Dylan Toffan who threw over to second baseman Carson Dennis to force the runner at second. While this was happening, the Langenburg runner initially at second base rounded third and headed for home, looking to score the series clinching run. Dennis alertly threw home and Zach Rakochy tagged him out to end the inning and save the Supers season.
The series is now knotted at one win apiece. The deciding game will take place Tuesday, July 30 at 6:15 PM in Canora. It should be a great game so come on out and support senior baseball
