Provincial let down
Posted August 11, 2013
The Outlaws headed into Provincials confident trying to cash a ticket to Provost , AB for westerns.
Friday's action saw the Outlaws face the Yorkton Yankees. Yorkton had Dan Morari take the bump against the boys and an unreal 8 run, 2 out rally led the Outlaws to victory, putting up 8 in the first . This proved enough for Campbell and Arty to close the door. Outlaws won 10- 5.
The next game was at noon at Cairns against Holdfast. Bess took the mound and pitched 6 and 2/3rds with Arty coming in for the save. The bats werent great but scored 4 runs and Bess kept the Holdfast bats to 2 runs.
The last game of round robin play saw the Outlaws play the Guns. With both teams knowing they were in the semis both started guys that havent pitched in awhile. Reaser took the bump and Brent Campbell finished it off. The boys took it on the chin losing 11-1, setting up a date Sunday with the Diggers.
Sunday was set up as planned, the boys had Marco on the hill, and were ready to go. Or so they thought.
The Diggers proved to be more willing and ready to play than the Outlaws and they shoved it up our asses, winning 10 to 0 in 5. A humbling loss to say the least. The bats were silent and we forgot to show up for the biggest game of the year. Rawlyk pitched a good game for the Diggers and we had nothing. Marco pitched well but the Diggers seemed to find every hole they could.
End of the day, a disappointing Sunday for the Outlaws. Showed lots of promise early in the tourney and couldnt perform when we needed it the most.
Congrats to the Smokin Guns who went undefeated through the tournament and will represent Sask in Provost in a couple weeks at Westerns.
next action is tuesday at 9 against the Jays
