Outlaws end regular season on a winning note
Posted August 29, 2013
The Outlaws took on the Guns in their final regular season game Wednesday night at Cairns.
Bess took the mound in pursuit of his 5th win in league play , which would give him top honors in that category for the league.
The Guns and the Outlaws defense had other ideas though and the boys found themselves in a 6-0 hole after 3. The bats stormed back in the 4th getting 4 back and then again in the 5th with 2 to tie the game at 6. The Guns replied with 4 in the bottom of the 6th to take a 10-6 lead heading into the top of 7th. The Outlaws took advantage of control issues by the Guns pitchers and participated in the Riki walkathon , putting up an 8 spot in the top of 7 and taking the lead 14 to 10.
Frenchee came in and closed the door, and Bess got the win. All in all, an ugly game but a couple good comebacks . The win improved the Outlaws final record to 16 and 8 on the season.
Playoffs begin after the long weekend on Tuesday. Opponent to be determined but it looks like it will be the Stallions.
