The first opponent for the Lady Wildcats was the Smith County Lady Owls. Waverly defeated Smith County in 2 sets, 25-7 and 25-15. Next up for the Lady Wildcats was the Springfield Lady Jackets. Waverly faced off with the Springfield in the tournament last season suffering a loss fron the Lady Jackets. The Lady Wildcats fell behind the Lady Jackets 16-8 but turned things around and won the set 25-21. The second set was a very decisive win for the Lady Wildcats as Jordan Barnett went on a serving run for Waverly. The Lady Wildcats took the set 25-7. Waverly was now at 2-0 in pool play and only needed one more win to be able to play in the single elimination tournament on Sunday.
Saturday opponents for the Lady Wildcats were Cheatham County and Siegel. Waverly defeated Cheatham County in 2 sets, 25-11 and 25-10, but took a loss from Siegel. With the 2nd place finish in pool play, Waverly would be playing on Sunday.
On Sunday, the Lady Wildcats were slated against the Dickson County Lady Dragons. The first set went to the Lady Dragons, 25-18. The Lady Wildcats again took an early 6-2 lead in the set. Waverly had the first opportunity for set point with the score at 14-11, but Dickson rallied back and tied it up at 14-14. The Lady Dragons then had a serve that was just out of bounds and the serve went back to Waverly, again having an opportunity for set point with the score at 15-14. During the rally, Elizabeth Allison for the Lady Wildcats went up and blocked a pass coming over the net for Dickson and the ball fell on the Lady Dragon's side of the court. This gave the win to the Lady Wildcats and they advanced on to play in the semi-finals.
