Outlaws on to League Final
Posted September 5, 2013
The late night match at Cairns field saw the Outlaws trying to cash a ticket to the league final, which would mean a date with the Stallions, as they completed the sweep on the Diggers in the early game.
The bats were quiet for a couple innings on both teams then came alive after the third. The Outlaws pounded out 20 hits, and the Guns had many hits as well. The end result was a 20-13 win for the boys. Thats not a typo, that was the final score. Not a pretty game but a huge W for the boys.
Bess took the mound and cruised through 3 with some good defense, ran into trouble in the 4th ,but a nice double play by Campbell and Dunn ended the inning. Bess struck out the side in the 5th and after a rough start to the 6th the ball was given to Gimmer, who was throwing hard but some seeing eye hits and errors closed the gap to 4 runs. The boys added 3 more in the top of 7 and Gimmer had a flawless bottom of 7.
The offense was potent tonight and put up alot of hits and runs. Need to keep it up heading into Saturday's action. Games are at 3 and 6 at Cairns.
