The Marysburg ball club was started in 1918 by the local priest, Father Casimir.

Although the Royals use 1918 as their inception year, there is proof of a team in Marysburg in 1906.

To determine who pitched, the local boys went to Dead Moose Lake and threw rocks into the lake.  Whoever threw the rock the furthest was the pitcher.

There has been a team in Marysburg for 100 consecutive years.

The first ball diamond in Marysburg was southeast of where the current field is. 

The Royals were named by Herb Bauml in the late 1940's.

The 1950's Royals saw them grow to be one of the strongest teams in the province.

The Royals defeated a barnstorming team at Rose Valley (during the 1950's) tournament by a score of 5-3.  Pitching for the opposing team was Jr. Gilliam - who later went on to a very good career as an infielder in the Major Leagues.

One of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history played with the Royals for a few years during the 1950's.  His name was Glenn Hall.

Herb Bauml once tore the brim off his hat in anger in the middle of a game because he could not find second base due to the extra long grass on the ball field in Colonsay.

The Royals joined the NCBL in 1964.

In the 39 years the Royals were in the NCBL they won the League Championship 19 times and the League Pennant 16 times - no other team even came close to those numbers.

Some ex Royals were actually scouted by MLB teams.

Sylvester Strueby was known in the area as Mr. Baseball.

The Royals in the early 1980's once faced Dave Pagan fresh off a career in the Majors with the Yankees and beat him.

The Royals won the North Battleford tournament three times in the 1980's.  At the time the tournament was considered to be the best in the province.

The 1988 Royals' record was 49-1.

The current Struebys, Baumls, and Puetz on the team are all fourth generation Royals.

Bob Woods - ex Washington Capitals and Anaheim Ducks assistant coach,and current Buffalo Sabres assistant coach - suited up for the Royals in the early 1990's.

The 1980's and early 1990's teams saw the Royals boast one of the best teams in the province.

In 1995 Curtis Strueby played with his dad, Wayne, and uncle, Dave, while Isidore (Curtis' grandpa and Wayne and Dave's dad) coached.

Murray Bauml, Ron Bauml, and Jamie Haeusler were members of the 1996 Weyburn Beavers Senior AAA team that won the National Championship.  Murray got the win in the semi final.  Ron got the win in the final and Jamie got the save.

In a 1998 provincial qualifier game, Murray Bauml was perfect against the Saskatoon Brewers.  Murray retired 27 consecutive batters in a 2-0 Royals win.

The Royals of the late 1990's to the present day team have consistently been one of the strongest in the province again.

In 1999 the Royals hit 49 homeruns in 20 league games.

In 1999, Royal Matthew Gerwing won $37 000 at the casino in North Battleford at provincials.

A game between the Royals and Melfort Brewers was once delayed because of mosquitoes.

The Royals won the 2003 and 2010 Father's Day Tournament in Saskatoon.

The Royals won the 2005, 2007, and 2011, 2012 Kenosee tournaments. 

The Royals joined the SSBL in 2004 after the NCBL ceased operation. 

In 2005 the Royals defeated a team at the Kenosee tournament by a score of 18-2.  In only five innings the Royals pounded out 22 hits with 11 going for extra bases.  They were losing the game 2-0 after one inning of play.

The Royals once played four games in one day at a tournament in Saskatoon.  They won 2, lost one in extra innings, and lost the final game by a score of 3-1. 

Each time the Royals have entered Senior A Provincials (twice) they went 3-0 and won the title.

Marysburg has been the Senior AA runner up 8 times since 2000.

In 2006 Bret Yarskie no hit the Muenster Red Sox - and lost 3-0.

In the 2006 Provincial Championship in Muenster the Royals turned a 6-4-2-5-1-5-4-6-4 triple play against Muenster.

Marysburg is known for their great hamburgers and hospitality during double headers.

Isidore Strueby was the groundskeeper in Marysburg for 55 years.

The Royals led the SSBL in walks......and strikeouts in 2007, 2008, 2009.

The Struebys and Baumls are related.

The current Royals team has three former SJHL players on the squad - Cam Blair, John Lawrence, and Luke Strueby and one current - Tom Bollefer.

Current Royals Braden Bauml and Brody Frerichs spent time with the Canadian National Junior Team.

Current Royal four hole hitter, Brent Puetz, swings extremely hard.

Current Royal leadoff hitter, Curtis Strueby, has hit leadoff every single game he has started since he was fifteen except for three.

The Royals won the 2010 SSBL title.

Numerous Royals over the last 30 years have been picked up by Junior AAA, Senior AA, and Senior AAA teams from all over the province to take part in Provincial, Western Canadian, and National Championships.

The Royals won the 2011 Senior AA Provincial title and represented Saskatchewan at the Western Canadian Senior Baseball Championships in Trail, BC.

In winning the 2011 Senior AA title, the Royals outscored their opponents 41-13.

Since the Royals entered the Saskatoon Senior Baseball League in 2004, they have never finished below third place in the standings.  They have finished first 6 times, second 5 times, and third once.

The Royals have won the SSBL Pennant five years in a row.

Royal Cole Bauml has been drafted by the Detroit Tigers on the 10th round, 310th overall.

The 2018 team has ten players that have had their Dad's play before them.

Marysburg, Muenster, Melfort, Tisdale, Wynyard, Annaheim, Fulda, Quill Lake, Leroy, Watson, St. Gregor, Humboldt, Bruno, Middle Lake, Lake Lenore, Watrous, Naicam, Leroy, Lanigan, Davidson, Lockwood, Saskatoon, PA, Regina, Lloydminster, Wilkie, North Battleford, Nipawin, Carlyle, Melville, Porcupine Plain, Kelvington, Wadena, Attica, Plunkett, Daylesford, Hendon, Yorkton, Weyburn, Kenosee Lake, Bethune, Holdfast, Riverhurst, Dinsmore, Rose Valley, Sturgis, Preeceville, Choiceland, Gull Lake, St. Lazaar (Manitoba), and Trail, B.C. - these are only some of the places that baseball has taken this team to play.
