| Game Notes: This was the first game of the year for the Rockets after just four practices. The team knew they would be in tough with three players out this weekend - Kacey Coghill (surgery - today!), Emily Koller (unable to make it) and Christina Franks (Agribition) - but it was a very good weekend. This game started with the Rockets coming out strong, but when the Southey squad switched to zone in the second quarter and the team having spent zero minutes on their zone offense in practice with two rookies and it was not a good middle of the game. The stress with the Rockets has been transition in practices and once the team fully realized that if they get up the court before the defense can get set up, then they don't have to run zone offense then success rose greatly in the fourth. Kudos in this one goes to grade 11 captain Natasha Pomrenke as she dropped 11 points and pulled in 7 rebounds in little more than 20 minutes of playing time. Also Mara Speck (our exchange student from Switzerland) got her first basket in basketball game ever! | |||||
