Supers Record Improves to 4-0

Posted May 23, 2014

Thursday, May 22- Canora Supers 9, Parkland Padres 2

On Thursday May 22, the Supers travelled to Yorkton to take on the Parkland Padres. After five innings, the score was 1-1 and the game was up for grabs. But in the top of the sixth, the Supers exploded for six runs on their way to a 9-2 victory.

Randy Brenzen got his first ever start on the mound for the Supers, tossing five innings allowing just one earned run. He allowed just four hits and three walks while striking out three. He made things interesting in the bottom of the first as his first nine pitches were balls, but he settled down after to eventually pick up the win. Darcy Blommaert came in relief and pitched the final two innings to slam the door. He had two strikeouts while allowing two hits and one run.

Brogan Legebokoff led the way offensively with three singles and two runs scored. Colby Parachoniak, Evan Rostotski, and Logan Parachoniak each had two hits. Derek Palagian, Scott Sharp, Carson Dennis, and Adam Korb each had one hit. Korb also made his Supers debut in this contest, and looks to get back in the swing of things.

Friday, May 23- Canora Supers 4 @ Melville Bison 0

Friday night was another solid game for the Supers as they collected ten hits, including a three run home run by Travis Mentanko, and a complete game shutout by Derek Palagian in a 4-0 victory.

Palagian's final pitching line was eight strikeouts, one walk and no runs allowed to pick up the victory. He also continued his torrid hitting with two singles, a double, an rbi and a run scored.

The key hit for the Supers came in the top of the fifth as Travis Mentanko sent a mammoth three run home run over the right field wall to give them some breathing room. Mentanko also had a single and was close to putting another ball over the fence, but just got under it.

Evan Rostotski had another good night at the plate with two singles. Also getting hits was Colby Parachoniak, Logan Parachoniak, and Greg Andreychuk. Brogan Legebokoff had two runs scored and a stolen base.

The Supers played very well defensively in both contests and look to continue to play solid in all aspects of the game as the season continues. With the two victories, their record improves to 4-0. Al Sapieha Field will be busy next week as the West Parkland Stars, Swan River Reds, and Langenburg Indians pay a visit on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Each contest begins at 6:15 pm so come out and watch some quality baseball.
