DBacks edge 'Cocks

Posted July 29, 2014

Prior to the game, the Gamecocks held a press release for their new official Twitter account. Welcome to the beak-fest, fellas.

This was another typical close Dbacks/Gamecocks matchup. But instead of stellar defence keeping the game close, it was sub-par defense on both sides that lead to the tight-knit affair.

The Dbacks still haven't figured out Scotty Law's 64mph curveball, which was seen called for strikes on several occasions after skipping in the dirt.

Baseball Gods were not impressed by these Little League strike calls, and placed a hole in the Gamecocks' first baseman's glove on a routine inning-ending out allowing the go ahead run to cross on error.

Trask pitched around his former college teammates, avoiding any big innings, instead selecting to only throw strikes to the 6-9 hitters, who may never have played baseball in their lives.

Moro went 3 for 3 and gave a charity triple to Robbie in CF.

Moro was also thrown out at second for his first CS of the year. After seeing this, Sutherland - who is considerably slower and leads the team in CS this year - decides to try his hand and is subsequently thrown out by 20 feet.

Trask also tripped over the base line and was picked off of second. Overall, solid base running by the Dbacks.

MVP - Moro
Vag Badge - Trask, Sutherland
