Outlaws regular season over, Westerns still going.

The Outlaws came off a big provincial win in hopes of stringing together a few wins in league to extend their season into the playoffs.
After a few lack luster efforts, the boys put themselves in a situation in which the Blue Jays could catch them, and due to the Jays having the head to head advantage this would mean the Outlaws regular season would be over. This all came down to a game that needed to be resumed from earlier in the year between the Jays and the Dodgers. The Jays showed up, and the Dodgers did not, giving the Jays the default win and propelling them into the playoffs. All in all the season saw its share of ups and downs. Some big losing skids, some big winning streaks, but as the record shows, definitely alot of inconsistency. The Provincial win was definitely the high spot of the year to this point, and a Western title is 2 wins away.
Westerns started on Thursday night in Regina with the Outlaws taking on the host Regina Trappers. The game was close for 4 innings till Regina busted out to take a 10 to 2 lead. Donkey took the rare loss and Ben B came in relief. The second game saw Colin Bauml throw a gem against Hamiota. He ran into trouble in the 4th and 5th but got out of it and finished strong for the complete game victory. The Outlaws won 6 to 2.
Next up were the Calgary Diamondbacks. Lindy took the mound and threw a gem as well, and some timely hitting led the boys to a 7 to 2 victory. The afternoon game saw the Outlaws finish the round robin against the Stonewall Blue Jays. The boys needed to win this one to guarantee a Sunday game, Big game Cat and the bats were the story in this one as the offense pounded out 16 hits en route to a 12 to 2 victory in 5. This left the late game between Calgary and Regina to decide who the Outlaws would play in the morning. Unfortunately they got 2 innings in with Regina up 8 -0 and the skies opened up and didnt stop till late Sunday. After an early Sunday morning meeting it was decided Sunday was unplayable and Calgary decided they would go home. The fortunate part in this is the 2 top teams are Saskatchewan teams so the finals will go on Monday Sept 2 at 4 oclock in Regina. The Outlaws need to win 2 games in order to be crowned Western Champs. Both teams should be refreshed and ready to go so it should make for some exciting baseball to end the year!
