Holiday Food Drive to Feed Families in Need
Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte Invasion will host its 1st Annual Thanksgiving Holiday Food Drive, in conjunction with Silhouette Hair Studio – 3117 N Sharon Amity Rd in Charlotte – from November 3rd through November 24th. Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected through the month of November leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday. All food donations will go directly to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry located in Mecklenburg County, which will provide emergency groceries for families in need.
Charlotte Invasion women’s semi-pro basketball team has already made an impact in the Charlotte community by hosting a free basketball clinic for youth ages 8-14. The clinic, which started on October 4, will run through November 22nd at Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center on Tuckaseegee Rd and has boasted more than 50 young athletes in attendance each week.
“We have a dedicated commitment to making a difference in the community in which we reside. It means everything to this organization to be able to give back through the basketball clinics and now with this upcoming food drive,” says Tonya Phifer, Charlotte Invasion owner.
