Andres Patino - Injury
Posted December 10, 2014
Boys/Parents: As many of you may be aware by now, Andres Patino suffered an injury to his hip last night during our practice session (parent/player game) last night . The incident occured when he was attempting a corner kick and overextended. No other player was involved.
Shortly after the incident we contacted EMS and he was taken to a nearby hospital; accompanied by Mike Smith. He was x-rayed there and then transported to Texas Children's Hospital (Fannin) where an MRI was performed. Although I do not have definite details, initial word is that he pulled that hip muscle and some bone fragments became detached.
He is currently still in the ER (not in his own room at this time) at Texas Children's Hospital in the Medical Center and will be released once they feel that we can walk or become more mobile on his own.
I am not certain if he is allowed visitors so it is best to call first if you plan to stop by. 832.824.1000.
Special thanks to all the boys present last night. Each one did his part in:
- offering up his jacket/hoodie to keep Andres warm while he was down (very chilly night)
- consoling and reassuring him
- running quick errands for the coaches
- standing by in the parking lot to flag down/direct the EMS
Also, special thanks to the experience of Chad and Mike who were able to recognize the seriousness of the injury.
Please keep Andres in your thoughts and prayers as we wish him a speedy and full recovery.
