Bantam Royals Drop Season Opener

The Ridge Meadows Bantam AA Royals kicked off their regular season on Wednesday evening with a game against the Tri-City Indians at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park. Nick Baust started for the Royals, and pitched well. Brett Hoogstins and Darian Guemos came out of the bullpen, and were also effective. However, a number of defensive miscues led to several unearned runs and a 6-5 loss. The offence was led by Nick Stroud and Owen Halstrom, who both homered in the loss. The Royals will now travel to Kamloops to take part in the Best of the West tournament this weekend before resuming league play next Tuesday against Burnaby.
