Midget Royals Go 2-2 on Weekend
Posted April 27, 2015
The Ridge Meadows Midget AAA Royals played a pair of double-headers this weekend, including their home opener. On Saturday, the Royals played a pair of 'home' games in Richmond against the Kamloops Riverdogs due to the field conflict in Ridge Meadows. The Royals' bats were quiet on the day, mustering only four runs over the two games, as they were swept by scores of 8-4 and 4-0.
On Sunday, the Royals had their actual home opener, as they hosted the Vernon Canadians at Larry Walker Field. Trevor Reed took the hill in the first game of the day and led the team to a 6-2 win. In the second game, Trevor's twin brother Tristan picked up where his sibling left off, throwing six shutout innings in an 11-0 mercy victory. Kyron Smith had a solid day at the plate, picking up a double and a triple.
The Royals will now have eight days off from league play before they take on their rivals, the Tri-City Indians next week.
