Well it's about time.
With special guest Joe Sergent stuck in traffic for the game, the DBacks elected to go with surefire Cardinal-crushing machine Tom Gayef on the mound. Unfortunately, Gayef was forced to shorten his usual 3hr warmup into 12.5 minutes.
But Gayef hasn't lost to the Cards since...ever. So what could possibly go wrong?
Everything.
Cards put up a crooked 7-run 2nd highlighted by a GUY PRINCE triple off Gayef. The 56-pitch 2nd was the end of the night for Gayef once Sergent finally strolled in.
Sergent shut down the Cards for the remaining 5 innings, but the Dbacks couldn't rally against the Cards' 1-pitch seventy-poo hurler.
Holding true to his quote from 2009: "God help me, if the Cardinals ever beat me I'm retiring as a pitcher", Gayef retires from pitching and becomes a full time DH.
VAG BADGE - Gayef for breaking a 4 year winning streak.
MVP - Murry for going 2 - 3 with a single and triple.
