(Loss) Black Eagles 2, Kamloops 3; (Win) Black Eagles 6, Kamloops 3

On Sunday, it was back at Cromie Field, this time for regulation season games against the Kamloops RiverDawgs. On paper, this was a match-up between fourth (Black Eagles) in the standings versus 15th (Kamloops) in the standings. But this is baseball and sometimes standings don't matter. Today was one of those days as the RiverDawgs scratched out a 3-2 win in the opening game. 
Things got off to a great start with Andy Weir pounding a triple in the first inning bringing in one run. On the next play, Jayden Wakeham gets hit by a pitch (Jayden got plunked three times this weekend!). But it all came for naught as Kamloops faked a pickoff to second and caught Andy stealing home. In the third inning, Ethan Emile grounded a single up the middle scoring a run, giving the Black Eagles a 2-0 lead. For the remainder of the game, the boys would manage only two more hits, both doubles from Toni de la Pena and Jayden Wakeham who strangely, are both eventually thrown out trying to advance to the next base. Our two runs would never standup.
Back on the mound, Noah Doorschot is pitching another gem, striking out eight RiverDawg batters and only allowing one walk, three hits and one earned run. But in a bizarre turn of events, a balk, an error and a passed ball and suddenly Kamloops is in the lead and stays in the lead, pulling out a 3-2 win out of nothing.

In the second game, the Black Eagles got serious in the second inning with none-out singles by Jayden Wakeham and Luke Seginowich, putting them both in scoring position on second and third. A line drive single to left field by Ben Mulchinock scores Jayden and then Luke steals home giving the Black Eagles a 2-0 lead. And that was it until the sixth inning. 
Meanwhile back on the mound, Trey Sjerven is doing a solid job shutting down the Kamloops offence. In the fourth inning, after allowing three hits to bring in one Kamloops runner, Trey nicely works out of a bases loaded jam by striking out the last batter to end the inning. In the sixth inning Kamloops again shows some life by hitting two triples and a double to put two more runs up. But Trey says enough and strikes out three more batters to end any further threat. 
The Black Eagles show their own signs of life in the sixth by welcoming the new Kamloops pitcher with lead off singles by Noah Doorschot and Cole Mayhew followed by a triple blast to right field by Andy Weir and long ball double to left field by Jayden Wakeham to bring the score to 5-1. The Black Eagles add one more in the seventh and that was enough to take the second game 6-3. Trey pitches a complete 85-pitch game with 9 strikeouts and no walks.
