Green and Giosia named NFCA All-Region

Louisville, Ky. - Senior outfielders Bria Green (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) and Shayla Giosia (Runnemede, N.J.) became the 10th and 11th players in Stony Brook history to be named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region teams, as announced by the NFCA on Thursday. Green was selected to the first team, while Giosia was named to the second team.

Green set Stony Brook single-season records with 19 home runs and 52 rbi, leading the America East in both categories, while hitting a career-best .435. She had four multi-home run games. It is her second time landing on the all-region first team. She also made the team in 2013 after leading Stony Brook to an America East title.

Giosia, the Stony Brook career rbi leader, makes her first appearance on an all-region team after hitting .382 with 12 home runs and 46 rbi. She was a first team all-conference selection.

The departing senior class combines for five of the 11 all-region honors in school history. In addition to Green and Giosia, Allison Cukrov (Irvine, Calif.) has twice been named to the all-region team, once in 2012 and again in 2014.
