Kenosee Triple Crown!

Posted July 10, 2015

The Outlaws embarked on their annual journey down south to Kenosee Lake this past weekend to play some ball, get in a round of golf, and have 1 or 2 ice cold beverages.Always a good time, this year didnt dissapoint , with a couple cameo appearances from some long time Outlaws in Moose and the Doc making the trek to fill out the roster.

The weekend kicked off with the annual Kenosee cup golf tourney between the Outlaws and Stallions. This year the Outlaws had the advantage due to numbers and Dunner picked up a huge 2 points for the boys. A scrappy Stallions team gave up a good fight but in the end the Outlaws took back the cup and win bragging rights for the next year. As well Moose gets to use his creative genius to redesign the cup in Outlaw fashion.

Now to the baseball. The Outlaws took on the Regina Angels first game saturday in Carlyle. They were a young team and stuck around for a couple innings, but in the end the Outlaws were too much and they cruised to an 11-3 victory. Moose threw a complete game recording the W.

Mother nature then decided to delay things with a heavy rain which pushed everything back. This forced the tourney committee to make the games 5 innings to get all the games in and still be able to have the home run derby. Most of the Outlaws were done for the day and enjoying the cold ones , minus Gimmer and Dunn who were preparing for the derby. Once the calcutta was figured out it was time for the Shane Gimas show. Gimmer put on a display , cranking 5 out and becoming the first righty in the history of the tournament to take home the crown. To compliment Gimmer's efforts, his team mates showed faith in him and bought him in the calcutta which ended up a pay day for all who chipped in. Dunner put in a good effort but the night belonged to Gim.

Sunday started early with the Outlaws in action at 8 against Estevan. Donkey took the mound and threw 5 strong. The game was tied in the bottom of 5 when Dunner (who saved all his energy during the derby) came to the plate and delivered the walk off single for the victory. Next opponent was Oxbow and the boys made short work of them setting up a championship game with the host team Carlyle. Cat kept rolling from the previous game and pitched 4 strong innings, with Gimmer coming in for the save , preserving the 6 to 3 win and giving the Outlaws another Kenosee championship.

It was great to see Moose and the Doc back in the green and yellow, and lots of good times were had throughout the weekend. Well done boys.
