Royals Place 2nd at Provincials; Advance to Westerns

Posted August 5, 2015

The Royals were in Moose Jaw this past weekend playing at Ross Wells Park. This first game saw the Royals take on the Outlaws. Taylor Elder threw four innings and Eric Bollefer threw three as the Royals won by a score of 7-3. The second round robin game saw Dean Jaeb throw a gem as the Royals defeated the Moose Jaw Padres 13-3. This advanced the Royals to the semi final against the Saskatoon Diggers. Colin Bauml and Jordan Rawlyk went head to head and were locked in a dual before the Luke Strueby knocked in a run with two out in the fifth inning to put the Royals up 2-1. Colin shut the door the rest of the way and the Royals advanced to the Provincial final against the Regina Trappers who had defeated the Saskatoon Outlaws also by a 2-1 score.

The final saw the Trappers jump out to a 3-1 lead after the first inning. Craig McWillie started on the mound for the Royals and was relieved by Mathew Strueby. The Royals offense could not muster up enough runs to come back on the Trappers as they won by a score of 6-2. The game was 4-2 until the sixth inning when the Trappers pushed two more across to help secure the win. Congrats to the Trappers on the championship.

Despite the second place finish the Royals have advanced to Westerns in Baldur, Manitoba on August 20-23. Come onn out to Baldur and watch some great baseball action!!

The Royals would like to thank the numerous fans who came to Moose Jaw to watch them this past weekend.  We had a large contingent of followers and it was great to see!!!
