2016 AMG Baseball Technical Director Has a Long Baseball History
A life-long Vancouver resident, Dan Taylor began his baseball career with Little Mountain Little League in 1955 at Hillcrest Park and thought his playing days were complete after a short career in the historic Vancouver Senior Men’s Industrial League. He returned to baseball in 1994 when he started up the Lower Mainland Baseball Association, a recreational baseball league for adults of all ages. Under his leadership, the LMBA evolved into the largest adult baseball league in Canada. He played and managed in 8 Canadian championships, winning two national titles at the 50+ Division level and co-chaired the 2010 national tournament which attracted 24 teams from across Canada. His commitment and leadership skills as a builder and administrator have been widely recognized by the BC baseball community. In 2012 Dan received the Sport BC President’s Award (Baseball) and in 2013 he was recognized by the BC Government when he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2014 he was the BC nominee for Baseball Canada’s Volunteer Award and in 2015 Dan was inducted into the Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame in the Builder category. Sixty years after his first year in baseball, he returns to Hillcrest Park as Director of the Masters Games baseball competition.
