Posted April 6, 2016
The Bantam Royals carried over their hot pre-season play in to the regular season on Wednesday night as they won their season opener by a score of 6-1 over the Vancouver Vipers at Hammond Stadium.
Darian Guemos got the start for the Royals and was dominant, needing only 69 pitches to complete 6 innings. He allowed only 2 hits and no earned runs while striking out 7 to pick up the win. Nick Baust pitched the 7th and struck out the side to finish the game.
Offensively, the Royals were led by clean-up hitter Derek Livesey. First, he capped off a 3-run 1st inning with a 2-run double to right-centre. Later on, he hit another RBI double over the left fielder to finish 2-3 with 3 RBI.
Up next the Royals play a pair of road games this weekend, as they travel to Vancouver to take on the Expos on Saturday before heading to Ladner on Sunday for a date with the Red Sox.
