Big Start for WC, Hurts Orioles JV; Tie with Tea
In many sports, getting a big start can really affect the team that starts well or more importantly, affect the team that didn’t start well. For the Orioles JV on April 14th against West Central, they had trouble with the start. 9 runs in the top of the 1st to WC and then 2 in the second gave WC an 11 to 4 lead over Lennox. However, Josh VanHouten came into the game in the second and he worked through 3 and a third innings with only allowing one run. Lennox would score two in the 4th but still fall 12 to 6. It once again proves that starts in baseball are very important and thus is why the Orioles couldn’t get the win.
Back on Wednesday April 13th, the Orioles headed to Tea to play the Titans who had recently thumped the Oriole JV team. However this game was set to be different. The Orioles in the top of the first would get a walk from Stoebner, a single from Foss and a RBI groundout from Quincy Ihnen. Then an error got Leisinger on and Wagner’s single got him on while scoring both Foss and Leisinger to take a 3-0. After William’s reach on error, Wagner scored and it was 4-0. Tea scored two in the first and made it 4-2. After Wallenstein’s single, Cole Feterl reached on error to score Wallenstein and take a 5-2 lead. After a couple hits and a couple walks, Tea scored two and made it 5 to 4 Lennox after two. For some reason, Tea coaches only wanted to play 3 innings so this was the last inning. After the Orioles went down scoreless, Tea would score one and tie it up 5-5. The game ended in a tie. It was the second tie in Lennox history with the first tie ever being two years ago between Lennox’s JV and Tea’s JV.
The next JV game is Friday after the Varsity in Garretson. It should be nice weather for baseball. Then on Saturday, there is a JV tournament down in Dakota Valley. So come on out and watch some Lennox Oriole baseball.
Thanks for reading, have a nice day, and GOOOOOO Orioles!
