Midgets Split Pair of Weekend Double-Headers

After starting the season by reeling off eight straight wins, the Midget AAA Royals have alternated wins and losses over their past eight games and currently sit with a record of 11-4 in league play. This past weekend the club split a pair of double-headers against the Chilliwack Cougars and Tri-City Indians.
On Saturday the team traveled east to Chilliwack to take on the Cougars. Seth Injates got the start in game one and was dominant as he threw a complete game in the 10-0 (6 inning mercy) win. He allowed only two hits and two walks while striking out 13 batters. Robert Gibson paced the offence with a pair of triples and four runs batted in. Nick Peters drove in two runs. In the second game, the Royals were unable to maintain their momentum and lost in the bottom of the 7th inning by a score of 8-7.
On Sunday, the Royals celebrated Mother's Day by wearing pink jerseys when they faced-off against the Tri-City Indians. Much like the previous day, the Royals opened up the day with a win behind the pitching of Chad Weststeyn. However, just as they had the day before, they were unable to complete the sweep and lost the back-end by a score of 5-4.
The Royals' league record currently sits at 11-4. This week they will face the 1st-place Cloverdale Nationals on Wednesday at Hammond Stadium before hosting the Vancouver Mounties on Sunday for a double-header beginning at noon.
