Greysox Work Cardinals to a 5-5 Tie in 10 Innings
Posted May 13, 2016
Coming off a 5-5 tie the week prior with Menno, the Greysox were looking to add to the win column, but again were forced into a 5-5 tie with the Irene Cardinals at Prentis Park Thursday, May 12.
Veteran Rusty Jensen took the hill for the Sox and went 5 innings and allowing only one earned run. The other three by Irene in the first were due to Greysox errors.
The Sox would settle down and chip away at the lead, taking a 5-4 lead in the eighth. But the Cardinals plated one in the top of the ninth to tie. In the tenth, both teams were held scoreless and the game was ended mutually by both managers.
Up next for the Sox is the first away game of the season. Vermillion travels to Wynot, Nebraska on Friday, May 13 for a match up with the Expos at 7:30pm.
