Chuckers take 2nd place in RCBA Queen Victoria Tournament
Posted May 24, 2016
The Bantam AAA Chuckers went 4-1 over the long weekend to earn a second place finish in the annual RCBA Chuckers Queen Victoria Day Invitational.
Richmond went 2-0 in pool play with a 12-4 over the Parkland Twins from Alberta and an 11-2 win over the Burnaby Braves. An 8-2 win over the Vancouver Minor Expos earned the Chuckers a date with the league leading Abbotsford Angels in the Semi's. Using a recipe of timely hitting, excellent defense and strong pitching the home squad put up a 9-3 win to advance to the finals.
On the other side the Delta Tigers had put together a solid tournament run thus far, making for a marquee matchup. Delta's pitcher was superb, while Richmond ran into some tough luck at the plate, and that combination was too difficult to overcome as the boys from south of the tunnel took home the top prize with a 3-0 win.
A huge thank you goes out to our amazing parent group who pulled off a very successful five-day event, to the visiting teams that supported our tournament, and to the umpire crew who ran a tight ship from pitch one to the last out. See you in 2017!
