WEST BEND THUNDER is holding OPEN TRYOUTS for the 2017 6th Grade Thunder TEAM!
Here's your chance be a part of a winning program that promotes personal development, a strong work ethic, teamwork, and FUN - all within a single-team structure.
TRYOUTS will be Monday, July 25th at 6pm at the Riverside Park Diamond.
WHAT IT IS:
Wisconsin State Youth Baseball League is the premier outlet for competitive baseball in southeast Wisconsin. WSYBL offers “Grade Level” based divisions for grades 3-8 consisting of 18-22 game seasons. Please visit www.wsybl.com to see all league guidelines and information. The WSYBL is a closed league format with players on each team coming from their respective school districts or community of residence.
WHO WE ARE:
The West Bend Thunder is a member of the West Bend Baseball Boosters. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for kids to improve and build their baseball skills for the future by playing the top competitive teams in the area. We offer more practice time, more games, and more instruction for a higher level, competitive, experience for those players and families that love baseball. Playing time for games is earned through training and hard work. In addition to league play and exhibitions, we will play 3-5 weekend tournaments targeting a 40-45 game season. We will do winter work-outs that ramp up for our first game in late April / early May.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The West Bend Thunder offer open try-outs each year to give all players an equal opportunity to make the team. Evaluators not associated with each team, acting independently, will rate each player with a point scoring system. They will be evaluated on hitting, infield, outfield, speed, and pitching. The top 8 player scores automatically make the team. The remaining 2-4 wildcard spots are selected by the Thunder Manager to fill out the roster to build the team as needed.
WHEN?
Try-outs for the 2017 6th grade team will be at 6pm on Monday, July 25th at the Riverside Park Baseball Diamond. Please email your player information prior to try-outs to help the sign-in process.
Include: player name, grade level, birth date, and school district. If you currently play for a WBLL travel team or WSYBL team and have already accepted a position on the team, you must bring a written release letter from the respective coach.
