CAIRNS, SK – With a 2 run lead and one out in the top of the 7th, the Dbacks looked to be on the way to their 15th victory of the year. However, things were not as they appeared as the Dbacks self-destructed giving up 5 runs falling 7-4 to the Swift Current Indians.
Graham Forrester started on the mound giving up 3 hits and 1 run with 1 BB and 2 K’s. Bryce Libke pitched the next two allowing no runs, no hits and no BBs with 3 K’s. Nolan Machibroda breezed through the 5th, but struggled in the 6th loading the bases before getting a phantom check swing to end the inning. When the damage had cleared he left the game allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 3 BB and two K’s. Ryan Olchoway got a third of the way through the 7th before allowing 5 runs on 4 hits with 2 BB. Tyler Schlichemeyer finished things off for the Dbacks with 1 K, no runs, no walks and one hit batter.
Offensively, the Dbacks were led by Nolan Machibroda who was 3 for 3 with an RBI and Garrett Krawchuk who was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Carter Dahl was 2 for 4 and Zak Krysak was 1 for 1. Ryan Crilly went 1 for 3.
With the loss the Dbacks finish the year tied with the Regina A’s at 14-16. However, since the Dbacks won the head to head series, they should finish the year in 4th place.
