Indians come Third at July 4th Firecracker Tournament!
Posted July 4, 2016
The Tri City Indians went 3 - 2 on the weekend defeating the Kelso Baseball Club to place 3rd. It was a hot weekend tailored for the metal bat game and there were many offensive fireworks as the bats came alive. On the flip side the Tri City pitchers had trouble adjusting to getting hit as hard as they did which seemed to affect their ability to stay focused on the mound.
It was also a good learning experience for our pitchers who were hit harder this weekend than they have been all year. Teaching them the importance of a working 2nd pitch, and setting up batters, skills that they can get away without working going against wood bats. At the end of the day it was good ol smash mouth American baseball where the games had lots of life to them and players on both sides seemed to enjoy swinging it. The Americans put an empahsis on hitting which seems to bring the best out of the boys. Although the Tribe never hit any out they came close a few times and watched four balls sail out of the park when they were on defence. It was a great weekend of baseball!
