DBacks open 2016 Provincials with win

CAIRNS, SK – The Saskatoon Dbacks hung on to defeat the Northwest Prairie Pirates 11-10 in their opening game of the 2016 Provincials. Ryan Olchoway picked up the win pitching the last two innings allowing no runs with 1 BB and 4 Ks. Olchoway also went 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Shane Soderberg pitched the opening two innings leaving the game with a 5-3 lead giving up 3 runs, on two hits with 3 BBs and 1 K. Alex Grenier lasted 0.1 innings giving up 3 BB with 1 K and 3 runs. Graham Forrester pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits with 3 BB and 1 K. Bryce Libke Pitched the 5th inning allowing 1 run on 1 hit with 3 BBs.
Offensively the Dbacks were led by Jorden Malainey who had two hits and 4 RBIs. Jayden McKim was 3 for 4 with an RBI while Nolan Machibroda was 1 fo2 with an RBI. Graham Forester was also 1 for 2 and Garrett Krachuk was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
The Dbacks now face the Regina Athletics at 12:00 pm at Cairns Field. This will be the A’s first game of the tournament.
