Braves Lose 3-0 to Cowichan to Open Provincials

Five errors defensively and 14 strikeouts in 32 plate appearances were the key numbers as the Burnaby Braves allowed three unearned runs, losing 3-0 to the Cowichan Valley Mustangs to begin the BC Minor Provincials in Nanaimo. Sam Van Snellenberg was outstanding on the mound throwing a complete game, allowing only five hits, walking one, and striking out seven. Michael Briglio and Evan Hoegler had two hits each, while Van Snellenberg and Jack Yaremko had extra base hits. The Braves face Delta Friday morning. Evan Hoegler will start for the Braves. In other group B games on Thursday, Delta beat Vancouver Community 4-1 while Nanaimo beat Cowichan Valley 9-4.
