Bat regulations

I have had a number of inquiries regarding bat regulations for various age groups. It is important that all parents understand the bat diameter and weight ratios required for their particular age category before purchasing a new bat. The Baseball Manitoba rules that regulate this are posted under the 2017 Rules Tab on the left. Below are some simple guidelines to follow.
U9 Bat Diameter 2 3/4, no weight ratio restriction
U11 Bat Diameter 2 3/4, no weight ratio restriction
U13 Bat Diameter 2 3/4, -10 Bat weight to length ratio for metal bats only.
U15 Bat Diameter 2 3/4, -3 Bat weight to length ratio for metal bats only
U18 Bat Diameter , Wood bats must be used, no metal bats allowed. 42 in, max length
It is important to note that wood bats are allowed in all age categories and do not carry a weight to length ration restriction, only the diameter guideline is to be adhered to. For example, if a U15 age player wishes to use a wooden bat, it does not have to follow the -3 ratio. Only metal bats are to follow that guideline.
