PANDOLFO NABS BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW YORK – After only her first weekend of collegiate action, Seton Hall softball freshman Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday (Feb. 20). Pandolfo's big opening weekend helped The Hall sweep three games at the 2017 Runnin' Bulldog Tournament hosted by Gardner-Webb.

Overall during Seton Hall's 3-0 start Pandolfo batted .667 (8-for-12) with four doubles, a triple, a home run and seven RBIs. The rookie catcher also scored five runs and finished the weekend with a .667/.667/1.417 slash line.

In her Seton Hall debut on Feb. 18 against Hampton, Pandolfo went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. She somehow managed to top that later in the day against Bucknell, over-shooting a cycle in a 4-for-5 effort that included two doubles, a triple and a home run along with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Her first career home run came in the third inning against Bucknell, a two-run shot that gave The Hall a 4-0 lead in an eventual 18-8 six-inning victory. In the weekend finale on Sunday, Pandolfo went 1-for-3 with an RBI single to help the Pirates top Holy Cross by a score of 13-4.

Pandolfo and the Pirates are back in action this weekend, taking part in the ECU Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C. The Hall will take on Virginia, Virginia Tech and Coppin State for five games over three days beginning on Friday, Feb. 24.
