Lindsay Montemarano of the University of Michigan softball team was named the Big Ten Conference's Player of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Junior third baseman Lindsay Montemarano of the University of Michigan softball team was named the Big Ten Conference's co-Player of the Week in recognition of her standout performance in the Wolverines' games against Western Michigan and Northwestern, the league office announced Monday (March 28). She shares the honor with Minnesota's Sara Groenewegen.

Montemarano batted a sterling .750 (6-for-8) over the Wolverines' four games last week, boasting a 2.000 slugging percentage and .846 on-base percentage. Among her hits, she tallied a double and three home runs, including two in the series finale against the Wildcats on Sunday (March 27). With five walks over the weekend, including a career-high four in the Northwestern opener, she reached base in all but one plate appearance in the series.

The weekly accolade is the first for Montemarano in her career and the fourth for the Wolverines this season, adding to conference recognition for seniors Sierra Lawrence and Sierra Romero and freshman Alex Sobczak. Romero was also named the national player of the week earlier this month.

The Wolverines will hit the road for their next seven straight games, heading first to Bloomington, Indiana, this weekend for a three-game set against Indiana. The series kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday (April 1) at the Hoosiers' Andy Mohr Field.
