GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Pittsburgh softball player Carly Thea was named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Softball Team, as announced by ACC Commissioner John Swofford on Friday.
A Communications major and Fitness minor, Thea recorded a 3.6 GPA during the 2014 spring semester and holds a 3.14 overall GPA.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
The Merrick, N.Y. native received two other honors this past season which included being named an All-ACC Performer and NFCA All-Region selection. On the field Thea lead the way for Pitt with a .388 batting average, the 6th best mark in the ACC. Her team-leading .636 slugging percentage also ranked 10th in the conference.
