Brittany Allocca Named CAA Player of the Week

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra Softball junior Brittany Allocca was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Allocca had a strong weekend at the plate, batting .444 and helping the Pride go 2-1 in a three-game series at Longwood. In Saturday's doubleheader, she was 3-for-6, including a home run, a double and five RBIs.

Her three-run homer in the first inning of Game 1 proved to be the difference maker, lifting Hofstra to a 4-1 win. Her RBI double in the fifth inning of Game 2 gave the Pride a 7-4 lead en route to a 9-4 win.

She also had a hit in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Lancers, and posted a 1.000 fielding percentage, slotting in at both left field and first base.

The honor is Hofstra's second weekly award of the season after freshman pitcher Sarah Cornell was named CAA Rookie of the Week last week.

The Pride heads to the west coast this weekend for the Oregon Duck Invitational for matchups with Pacific, No. 4 Oregon and Idaho State.
